I am new to FH so I apologize if my questions seem silly. But I would like to know do different types of FH breed or do u have to get a male and female of the same type. Are male and female FH hard to get to pair up or are they pretty easy to pair up. At what age or size do FH start breeding. Do u need to get a larger female than the male?

since these fish are already hybrid, few fh are sterile and most are fertile.if you're trying breed fh's,just make sure that the male is bigger and ready.sized maybe 7 to 10 inches is good.for me,it is better to breed with diff.kinds,so therefore createing new ones...basically it all depends on each individual person(s) in this hobby....this hobby just takes time and patience and lastly lots of tlc from you towards your fish...hope this helps a little...

I am curious if anyone has any suggestions on pairing FH. I have one male and 3 females and would like suggestions on trying to pair them up? Or should I just stick with dividers to avoid injury to FH! I'm open for suggestions!

Dividers, and do one at a time.. male on one side, one female on other side.. if they look like they're not aggressive with eachother, take out the divider, and watch 'em.. if they don't fight, and the female's tubes dropped.. then, they're paired up.. from what I've been reading.. that's simply put.

actually I have heard that flowerhorns aren't all that tough to breed. Besides the aggression factor, the females are pretty much whores. I don't know if its their confusion of what fish they are or what. It just seems like they will pair off somewhat easily with a fish that looks somewhat similar to it.

I am hoping I have a male and a female, but I am using a divider because the one that I think is a male is always next to it charging his snouth through it and tail whipping the divider. I will probably have to get a bigger tank to get them to breed becauet his thin gis pretty aggressive and hes maybe about 2 inches.

I agree, just follow ayobreezie and poopsmart's advice on breeding them. They can even sometimes breed through egg crate divider if the female has a place to lay the eggs next to the divider...

well i never breed fh with other hybrid be side kingkong parrot.... but fh male and female is easy to pair up like my male kml flowerhorn with my super red female...but you had to get the female big at the male or else, cause the male get really agressive during firtle and flower horn breeding all the time dont matter at wat age... but when they get about 8".. female produce lot of egg..and the male more maturefor firlte and start take kare the egg by themself... it better experince on ya own then you''ll kno wa im talking about

I want to thank u all for the advice, information and suggestions u have given me. I have bought FH through aquaticwonderland and aquabids I look forward to sharing pics of my fish with everyone here. Anyone know if it is ok to put adult females together in the ame aquarium?
