Good Breed For A Beginner?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I believe one should pick out a breed that fits their lifestyle.
I grew up with all types of dogs. Lab hound mixes, they were smart. Almost too smart. Pains in the arses for me. Always causing trouble.

We also had a lg wire hair terrier. Too nippy. COuldnt stand that punk!

We had some blue heelers as well. SUper cool dogs A bit high energy for me still.

THen we got a bull mastiff. THat for me was heaven. Loyal, smart, great gaurd dog and the freindliest around kids and others when needed. NOt too much energy. Just happy to be around you.

Our current situation. Now that Im not on a huge property living at my folks house. ^^All the above dogs I had while growing up as a kid. But now we live up in the mountains, and my wife and I are not on a huge chunk of property. we had to get a dog that fit our house and yard a bit more fittingly.

Im in love with the bulldog/mastiff style breeds. So a few years back we ran into the perfect mix. FOr us anyway. He is a Valley Bulldog. The mix of a English Bulldog and Boxer. The goofiest, coolest ham you have ever met. He fits us great!

So think long and hard before ya get a pup. Think about what you like to do and pick a dog that matches your lifestyle. They live quite some time. But not long enough.
