Hi all,
I’m trying to determine a pair of cichlids that I could keep in my 75 gallon bowfront. I was going to go with nandopsis tetracanthus but I think they might get a tad bit too big for a 75. Now I’m thinking maybe something on the liens of a salvini, red terror, green terror, or jack dempsey. Any info will help. Thank you!

I think all those except the red terror will work out. Most here will argue that the green terror gets too large as well--75 gallon is minimum imo.

Ideally, the salvini or a similar sized fish should be your choice. Most fish from the Amatitlania, cryptoheros, and thorichthys complex would work as well, and you could even try a harem of fish this size.

If it was me i would try cuban cichlids in a 75.

Breeding geophagus would be an adventure. Also like cichlids would be legit. A couple species would work in a 75 of either

I keep my srd and gbf in a 75... paired up and doing the deed every 3 weeks.... get along great!... just make sure you have spots she can get into and he cant if they dont wanna play nice sometimes

I think all those would be fine, though the red terror and the green terror might be a bit of a tight fit, the dempseys, salvinis, and nandopsis tetracanthus would be fine though, I think convicts might also do well too.

Also, is it more likely to find a fertile or infertile male flowerhorn since they are hybrids? Are there such things as sterile/infertile flowerhorns?
