Good Cameras?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
go into a store, pick them both up, play with them, then decide. Its the best way to do it. Nikon and Canon both make good cameras and both have advantages and disadvantages. The best way to pick it out is to go to a store, pick it up and compare them in person. If you dont want to buy from a store thats fine, still go to one and play with them and get a feel for them. I compared them online, did my research on both brands, then I went to the store and played with them, after that I decided. Both of them will give you excellent results and have entry level's in your price range. The only bit of advice I can give is if you go with Nikon is don't bother looking at the D40, its a cheap entry level but imo, not worth it when you can get a better model for a little more.

Another thing to keep in mind, is don't judge a camera by the pictures you see produced. The picture and camera is as good as its operator. Also why I wouldnt reccommend comparing photos taken from two different brands of camera (also add in the fact that photos can be altered). An entry level slr on it's stock lense can take some amazing shots if you learn how to work with it.

Both of those are old models that have been discontinued some time ago, may not find them in camera stores...

any type under $425 lol
I don't know what prices are like over there, but Nikon and Canon DSLRs usually start a little bit higher than that...

good to know I am not up with the times lol

For a very portable point and shoot that offers excellent picture quality, you will be very pleased with the Canon S95. It's the most recent model offered.

If you're hard set on a DSLR, you will have to pay a little more. You can get a Nikon D3100 or Canon T1i for about $650 with kit lens.
