Gold nuggets get gigantic from what I've seen. I may have the room for one in there... but not looking for something like that just yet. They're awesome looking, but I think I'm gonna stray from them for the time being.

From what I hear (and I haven't owned one...) gold nuggets get large, but grow REALLY REALLY slow...I'd guess several years to get anywhere near a foot long (but thats a complete guess).

I never knew plecos were messy... what they crap alot or something? I clean the tank once a week, so I figure it shouldn't be a problem. I'll check out the L-200 and L-018 amd see how they look. Anyone else have any suggestions? My tiger is hardly ever out.

If plecos aren't good for cleaning then what is? I don't want an algae eater only because I always hear problems with them eating the slime coat off of fish.

Ahh here we go with the condescending answers. I'm here for informative purposes, not childish answers. Unless you're under the age of about 16, these answers are not necessary.

Answer #1 states absolutely nothing, whether it be informative or jokingly, it does neither. Answer #2 is exactly what I am not looking for. I clean my tank every week, and I am pretty aware of the tools needed to do so.

Thanks for all who give good honest answers and I am still looking for any more input that can be helpful.

-- Thank you

First of all, YOU asked "What they crap alot or something?" YES, TONS.
Second, plecos being tank cleaners is a myth. Sure they will eat SOME algae but will far from keep your tank clean. But hey, if you want to jump right into being a douche bag thats cool too. BTW, how many MATURE adults do you know with 420 in there username!? :chillpill:

I haven't had much of a cleaning issue really. I have had more algae than normal accumulate on my glass. I don't really know what is causing it... I am told it is natural with live plants being in the tank. But I don't have a kit to check phosphate levels. I am not even sure what sort of effect phosphate has on a tank... could you elaborate? What do you do to control phosphate?

Phosphate levels can rise if you over feed your fish or if you are using a chemical to drop the pH of your water. It can lead to disease and cause more algae to grow on your tank glass and plants. The test kits dont normally have them but most lfs should have them next to the test kits. To control it just make sure your not over feeding your fish and do frequent water changes. For my tank the phosphates took about a month to finally drop to where I wanted them and I was only doing a weekly wc.

Btw calico bn are a good choice too. I have one in my girlfriend's tank and it does a great cleaning job!! The L200 is a fancier pleco in my opinion but go with what you like better. Plus calico bn are all captive bred which is a big plus in my book!!

My Chocolate pleco does a good job...

My L-190 Royal pleco doesnt.... (VERY SHY AND EATS WOOD AND WALFERS MORE)

Albino Common does nicely too!

But I will def consider getting a L-200.... didnt know they were that good...
I dunno about L-239 anyone???

:duh: I can't believe I am actually still dealing with this. Ok, I never said I wanted to have a fish do all the cleaning in my tank. I like plecos, mine now is always hiding, and if I am to get another one, I want an ACTIVE (cleaning) one. Oh and for a little BTW yourself, I know plenty of MATURE adults with birthdtaes of peole they know in their username. Obviously we see what kind of person you are. Read a little further in the username next time... 4206 (let me clear it up for you... 4/2/06... clear enough?) I'll let the whole douche bag comment go since you obviously have the intelligence less than that of your fish.

A bit stalkeresque, wouldn't you say? What are we going through my threads? You have a lot to do with your time. When did I ever say I was dropping one of these fish in right away? Did I ever mention dropping them into a tank that was sick?

Balls in your court buddy. Keep this ridiculousness going or let it go. I'm not here for this garbage.

Thanks... I'll look into a chocolate pleco. I don't know what an L-239 is or if I have even looked into one yet. I'll check that out too.

Look, my original posts were'nt meant to be rude or condescending. You asked "What do plecos poop a lot?" I answered: TONS. You also asked "what cleans a tank if a pleco does'nt?" I answered a mag float because thats the truth. Fish dont clean tanks. If you wanted an ACTIVE fish than that is what you should have posted. So just remember I was giving you honest correct answers and you are the one that went of the deep end on me. And as far as the threads go, If you are going to start with me yeah I am going to see who I'm dealing with. But your right I did'nt have to go that far to find out, I could have just looked at your sig.

Love ya,

I apologize, I didn't realize I was in the presence of the all knowing, never killed a fish, fish guru. Your answers were just that... condescending. Look to see who you are dealing with? Ridiculous. Not forgetting to touch on having to go far on finding out about a person. Your ignorance is prevalent in every single post. If you are going to berate and belittle someone, at least you could be grammatically correct when you do it. So keep pretending you are the all mighty who never killed a fish. I'll keep being a realist.

;) Always yours,
