what size was the cichlid you were trying this with? like I said above, I wouldn't attempt this unless I was starting out with the smallest carpintis I could get ahold of (1-1.5") and some decent sized swords/mollies/platys (2" or more). :)
 
aint got the carpintis yet, but yeah i wanna get the smallest possible any way! At that sort of size is there any way to tell the sex?
 
My experince with texas (carpinte) says that they are not nearly ass agressive as this thread makes them out to be. (granted I mostly keep jaguars and the like so it might be relative)

I have succefully kept them with nicaragua cichlids, festae, Mossanbicus Mossanbicus and even severums.
 
will post some pictures when its up and running properly! just had to take the cabinet apart cos it wont fit up the stairs to my flat!!!
