Good deal for a dovii?

Since I cant get the search button to work....

My lfs has a male dovii 12"+ for $17. His fins are torn but nothing that will not heal back. I am not big on cichlids but this guy is HUGE and looks raelly good. Should I pick him up? There is also a red toerror of the same size for the same price. Wich deal is better?

That is a really good price for a dovii that size. I would say pick it up as long as you have a tank big enough for him. I found one here and they wanted $40 or $50 for him.

I really think the fish is more like 14 and not 12. How big do they get? I think he would be too small for my 125.

Males can get up to 20" +. He would best in a 180 or larger.

An lfs around me has em for 9.99 at 1-2" so i'd say that's a pretty good deal. Maybe they just want to get rid of it, or dont have the space to keep it, cuz i've seen lfs's give away fish that they dont have the room for, I've picked up a nice 4" red zebra african and a 5" female salvini that way.
