I'm not sure if you can beat that price new. But I think you can beat it used for sure like finding a similar setup on craiglist.org. And you could put together a new setup for a little more. But totally up to you. My problem with the stuff above is most of the filtration/fish food/chemicals I wouldn't use anyways.

Talking about new setups. Have you checked with Scales? A 125-150 might not be a bad price from them. I remember then had a 125 with overflows I think on sale. Also might want to check with aquarium depot in Randallstown.

Finally if you want to drive about 2 hours up here in PA at www.thatfishplace.com they're having a overstock sale on tanks 150g and under and they have 150g woodgrain perfecto for $245.00 but it says "quanitys are limited" so you'd want to call and reserve one if you want to peice together a setup. The black/oak 150g's are slightly higher in price. A cheap stand for that tank is 199.00 and then glass tops would be 42.00.

I'm at scales regularly. The 125 they had for sale there was about $325 or so. It didn't come with a lid or lights either. Another concern of mine is I don't want a cheap or cheap looking stand. The stand and light fixtures that were packaged with the tank seemed very good quality.
BTW, what issues do have/see with filtration he's including?

really!?! I never buy from petsmart but they had a 180g plus stand for $700

Onion, I went to petsmart for some salt last night and saw a 56 gallon (with stand, a filter and cheap deco) for $600 and something! They didn't have anything large than that (thank God!).

I like the FB filter, and the eheim but I'm not much for fluvals. And I guess the fact that it comes with test kits/chemicals/decor which I use none of personally. So that's why I said personally I wouldn't buy it.

But that being said from what you're looking for that might be the deal for you. Might ask him if he'll take a little less for it just to save a couple bucks. But again if it's right up your alley then go for it. :)

run forrest run! you can do a lot better than that right here in md. i did. look on craigslist and also take a look on websites in the classified section. aquarium depot in randallstown has a 150 for sale for 600.00. good luck and i hope this helps u out.:headbang2

Seems to me that he's unloading alot of stuff that he's pieced together over a period of time...Personally... I'd just look for a tank (either new or used via Craigslist) buy a new filter which matches what you want to do and you know is coming str8 out of the box. build the stand myself to match the rest of the decor in the house.. and do things my own way... I personally picked up a 270 gallon (advertised as a 220) from Criagslist for $300...I'll have less than $800 tied up into it and have a tank thats more than twice the size... 150's are cheap...go new!

yeah, i've been to AD in randallstown. the $600 150 is only the tank. still gotta get lights and a stand. by the time i get a really nice stand and some lights i'd be up to $1000 if not more. i'm going to view the tank in a few hours so i'll see the condition of it. the guy claims he only used if for 5 months and everything is in new or like new condition so i'll be able to better judge it once i see it in person.

alot of people seem to think this is expensive but on craigslist people are asking like 600-700 for 75-90 gallon set-ups. i know those prices are negotioable but i doubt everyone in this area is hyper inflating their prices. here are a few listing in my area:

72 gal asking 650.00
http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/mld/for/486612989.html

75 gal asking 675.00
http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/for/491661239.html

150 gal asking 700.00
http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/for/487121804.html

150 gal asking 750.00
http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/mld/for/487863103.html

175 gal asking 1700.00
http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/mld/for/488513472.html

keep in mind this set up will be in my dining room or living room area so i need a nice looking stand, not a cheap looking one which is exactly what it'd look like if i built it!

thanks for the advice everyone.

it's actually 155 bowfront... better deal than your actually getting IMO
this dude is desperate to get it out the door... throw in a low bid...just because someone is asking $750 doesn't mean they won't take the first $400-$500 through the door :D I speak from experience in buying from Places like Criaglist...I'm ALWAYs thowing out low bids on stuff... worst case they say No... but you've started a dialog.. and you can usually see just how low they will go...and if not low enough then you simply tell them that if they have a hard time selling it then they know who to contact for a quick sale :)

Not sure why I'm giving pitching lessons here but oh well

This time of year people aren't really trying to BUY tanks... just sell them for some christmas cash...Just a thought
