If you plan on a silver aro wider is a must. I would like to have a base that is 8' long by 36" wide. Height is up to you. You'll have more gallons in there but that's a good thing right?

Before making a decision I suggest reading a couple pages of the "Glass or Acrylic" sticky at the top of this folder...
I generally prefer glass but 8' tanks are darn heavy... Compare the differences and see what you think for your personal situation...
