Good dither for Geos

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I had Columbian tetra's with geo's until I added a juvie aro, really loved the color of the tetra gave that extra pop I was looking for.:) I've seen rummy nose tetra used as dither's also.

Danios are usually considered too active for Geos, the constant motion stressing them out. Tetras and rainbows would be better options.

I figured rainbows would be constantly moving too, Okay thanks for that input I suppose then giant danios are not the best pick.

I saw clown barbs recently too and they looked really cool but I researched a little and found that they destroy all plants that arent hornwort, anubias and java fern.

australian rainbows perhaps, they are very affordable

PIckeed up 11 aussie rainbows today, they make a really nice display and they don't seem to bother the other fish slightly.

Thanks for the suggestions guys

SDs will completely destroy live plants otherwise I would have considered them.

It`s not necasarilly to stop them from fighting, but more to create some movement in the open water column, the tank looks pretty empty at times, the geos are all playing very nicely together with the Tapajós redheads at the top of the food chain.

I was thinking Giant danios or Panda barbs maybe, The only reason I decide not to go with black skirts is because I have used them as my go to group of open water fish for the last few years, they are usually the first fish I will add to a tank when it is stable.

I've had sd with green tiger lotus, anubias, and onion plants for 2 years with no issues. Ive had java fern for a month or two and haven't seen them show any interest. I also had amazon swords until recently but my melanurus and heckellii were picking at them, surving but not thriving.

I have about 25 Serpae tetras with my RH Taps.

Wow aquanero they look beautiful! I am very surprised that works out as I have heard nothing but bad stories about Serpaes nipping every other fishes fins. THey are definately feisty. Their color really sets off the red heads though. Nice combination :)

A large group in a large aquarium. They pay no attention to anything other than themselves.
