Good dithers for EBJD

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
my ebjds have never been agressive like a reg dempsey, ive used bleeding hearts, congos, lemon tetras basically any tetra theycouldnt swallow... even large livebearers

Congos are beautiful, but get very pricey (at least online and locally as far as I can tell). I love lemon tetras and highly recommend them. They school pretty tightly in groups of 12+ and are too big for any size JD to swallow. Buenos Aires and bleeding hearts will both work well also, but they are bland in my opinion.

As far as people getting neons. It will all come down to the individual fish's personality, but I can tell you that a JD who doesn't eat neons once it reaches 4"+ is very rare and was definitely raised with them from baby size.

This is off topic but do you know that you don't breed ebjd-ebjd it doesn't work. Best outcome is ebjd-blue gene Jack Dempsey. just an fyi If you don't know.... well atleast they are tiny

My fish life is sparked up with Polys :)

I know but need to determine a male to pair with a blue gene... And thanks again for all the advice

7.99 for congo's where I'm at. Got em in my 210 with some centrals and a polleni and four berdmorie loaches. There were six but the smallest one got eaten oh well. They are good looking dithers.

tinfoils would be fine but not in a 55g they get too large.

if you can find them at that price i would pick them for sure but i have never personaly found them that cheap.

I still think Giant Danios are some of the best dithers. They can get decent color but not enough to distract from the main attraction...your EBJD's
but if your looking for color Rainbows are always an option

+1 on the rainbows.petblow or the other one has specials sometimes.i had australian rainbows that were fast, colorful and 1.99!

Thanks guys! Gonna see what comes in today and will grab some next week. Just something to get them active for now will be good. Definitely not gonna do anything that gets large. Have my hands full with that in the other tank haha
