Good enough for a 55 gal

True, Any ideas of what filter i should buy, The stocking list is going to be an Australian eel, a JD, a pair of convicts and maybe a pair of electric blues, I'm not sure what the bio load will be.

I would so skip the pair of electric blues. They are africans and will msot likely reak havoc. Go with a HOB or small canister.

If i have little free swimming room and tonnes of hiding space i believe that They won't have many problems, Although the JD will have a hard time.

I would ask if you are making it because you want to or to save money? If you are trying to save money you may be over thinking it I have 2 HOB filters which together cost me about 65 USD both were rated by the company to be 300gph but in all truth are likely just what I need for the 55g.

I have crystal clear water as it is. But I am in the market for some driftwood for my Pardalis to munch on so I will let you know how it works when I get the driftwood.

Use a pump in the tank with a foam pre-filter, hide it behind some driftwood or slate.

Or if you've decided against DIY two AC110. one mechanical, one biological.
