For the auto water change.
Basically I have a small pump in the sump that pumps out about 1L per min. This is on a timer to determine how long it's on a day. 150 minutes though out the day = 150L per day removed from the sump.
I have a Tunze auto top up unit connected to a reservoir (wheelie bin) to keep water in the tank/sump at the desired level.
A float valve connected to a faucet to the bin keeps water in the bin. Have a carbon filter (or activated carbon) on the hose to remove chlorine (check water source does not have chloramines)
I use that method and find it very effective. Others on this site just drip water into the sump constantly which overflows out of an outlet in the sump to a drain. (Drip method)
I think this is harder to calibrate/adjust and you may be just removing diluted water as opposed to removing water first then adding new water.
Either way will improve water parameters greatly.
