Good fishes for a turtle tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I added 100 quarantined rosy red minnows to my RES tank (a 90 gallon) about a month ago as a treat for him. He managed to catch one when it was first added. He hasn't been able to catch one since. Just give the fish a place where they can hide and the turtle can't get to them (like a small cave). After the first 2 days my turtle just gave up (he's fat from all the treats friends and family give him, which makes him kind of lazy). They are great for cleaning up after him (they even eat the turtle poop). Periodically he makes a lunge for them, but he hasn't caught any since that first minnow. It's really nice to see the schooling effect they make with a predator in the tank. They ball up and move like sardines as soon as he starts following them around.

I also noticed that my turtles stay away from big fishes( I use to have two pacus which died when i moved houses). So is there any good big species that you guys recommend besides pacus
