I'm looking to veer off hikari mini pellets for my vieja and jag juveniles and I'm looking for something that has more natural/better ingredients. Sure, they're growing off of it, but I want them to have a better diet.
My fish are surface eaters and was looking for a pellet that floats.

Are there any better floating pellets besides hikari? (Im not a fan of omega, find them to be a little too hard).

The one pellet that gets hit the hardest from every single fish is Northfin Tropical Sticks. I even snap them in half so the smaller fish can grab one. It’s by far my pellet and guaranteed to soak your floors.

I have those as 3mm. I break em in half for my fish that are 4 inches and bigger.

Not sure it'll be small enough for the jag and vieja at 3 inches. Have you tried nls floating?

Yes sir, I tried Float large sized pellets in the past and they were consumed but with less enthusiasm than the NF. The only NLS product I use currently is Algaemax.

Maybe I can try to break into thirds and try get to eat it here in a few. They'll probably go nuts for it, just gotta make it small enough for their mouths

I certainly don’t want to talk you out of trying Float. Trying to break the sticks into 3 seems like a huge pain the ass, Lol. I mainly feed NF and none of their other offerings spark the reaction the sticks do. It’s like fishing with a Chug Bug and I love seeing the fish slam the pellets.

Yea just tried lmao, doesn't work out too well except for breaking in half lol.
Threw a few halves in the tank and they went nuts for it, although they would keep spitting out then going at it again to break it down. Was giving them hikari staple but they need better ingredients since they're getting bigger.

I feed Bug Pro too and the crisps float and now NF has those in stick form at 1MM, which might be worth looking into.

fluval large bug bite (red bag) float - not sure how large they are but my chocolates love snapping them off the top. The medium to large (red container - know it is confusing) do not float.

My jag and vieja are no bigger than 2.5-3 inches. They already get bug bites a treat. Trying to figure a healthier pellet than hikari that floats.
