Good for life? (tank size)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I see! I just want to plan ahead of my 6 new mystery bass. They are barely 4" long and they are fighting with each other in the 80G >.<" so it got me thinking of getting a new tank.

Anything over 72" x 30" x 18" in dimension is impossible to bend thru the stairway

Anything over 16" in height is too heavy for me to move downstairs

I can't build a custom tank either, because it's an unfinished basement

I saw a 96" L x 36" W x 12" H ~ 150G frag tank for $1000, nice dimension, but it's a bit too short and it's open top >.<" my last nigro jumped out a 15" tall tank, so a 12" H tank is like pushing my luck x.x"

Someone in my area is selling a 500G acrylic tank + filters and sump (96" L x 30" W x 39" H) for $2500. It's a pretty good deal, but then again, it's next to impossible to move it down to the basement

If I sell the extra 4 bass out, maybe a pair will work in 72" L x 30" W footprint???

No, two full grown azuls will not work. 8' is a minimum, not a standard to stick to.
Remember, there is a huge difference between thriving and surviving.
If that is the biggest tank you can fit, I'd suggest going another route with the fish stock.

The 72 x30" will work for quite a while. That is what i have and it works as long as your not too heavy on your stocking. I wouldnt suggest it for life tho. SInce you are a monster fish keeper I would suggest moving so you can accomadate the tanks you want. I was in your same situation and moved....much happier cause now I can go for a REAL monster tank :)
