I talked to one of the fish stores (about 45 minutes from my house) and they've told me that they can track me down a 5-6" male (Trimac, Midas, RD, GT, Texas) to go in my 150gal with my 6.5" FH. Should i go for it and give it a try, or just let the FH have the tank to himself (with the Raphaels that hide all day)?
I would love to hear some personal experiences. I feel like it's more or less now or never with adding a tankmate for this guy.

gt as in green texas or green terror?

GT was Green Terror.
I spoke with them again this afternoon and in stock they have a few Red Terrors, Red Devils, and a Jag. All are the same size as my FH. I believe one of the Festae is a female. Festae x FH mix? Anyone have pics of what this might look like?

Another two fh's or midas or trimacs. Gt's will get killed fast unless ya had 450 + gal tank. For long term the opposite sex with tri, midas, and tex, can work if they bond.
So take your pick, then buy about 5 a little smaller than your fh, so your fh dosent get killed, And you should end up with what you want eventually as he thins the tank out

Why would the GT get killed. Mine actually beat down my midevil. Festaes are slow growers so the FH might outgrow it. I would say a jaguar but its all personal preference and how compatible the fish are

Thanks guys. I'll see what they have tomorrow. Anyone else want to weigh in? Do you think i'd be better off getting a few smaller cichlids?

We all have to remember THAT fh are hybreeds, And grow fast because of that. FH,s seem to dislike GTs, and the gts, I dont think can handel the stress of being chassed around. Jag hell no for long term unless its opposite sex then it MIGHT bond. But a adult jag of same sex if trying to breed WILL kill a FH with no problem.
Large fish need Space . Even my 300 gal tank is small as far as space. Put it in a small creek and think off how little space that is.
But you can crowed fish and get away with it a LOT more when fish are young.

its really not a good idea... it would most likely never be a good situation. one fish will always be harassed, even if they decide to spawn a few times it can become overbearing for the female or they may not even ever build a strong enough bond for him not to decide to kill her. its up to you...you will do what you want

my bad....i just saw that its a 150. ummmmm... its probably possible. i think its more likely with a bunch of growouts. not to sure how introducing another occupant to an already established tank will work
