good or bad idea for peacock eel feeding?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
my con just killed another one and was eating him. The con is in the same tank as the eel. They have been fine no fighting or anything in all honesty they don't pay any attention to each other.

Be careful when feeding live feeders since they can be carriers of bacteria and disease. I accidentally fed my first fire eel sick ghost shrimp which killed it. If you're going to feed live foods either raise them yourself or get them from a commercial source (bait worms at Wal-Mart). As soon as possible get them onto frozen foods and feed the live foods as a treat.

I feed my peacock eel (Macrognathus siamensis) live earthworm by putting the earthworm in a plastic tube and dropping it right in front of the peacock eel. Once the earthworm is picked by the eel, no other fish (rosy barbs, tiger barbs, arulius barbs) can get the worm away from the eel. I just make sure the rainbow snakeheads (Channa bleheri) that are in the same tank have also been fed their share of an earthworm so that they won't grab the worm away from the eel.
