Mine won't eat any of the pellets I've fed.....even the kinds with picture of arowanas on the damn bag.
Mine eats Tetra-brand freeze-dried krill like mad, don't even try to put the Wardley Walmart kind in there... he won't eat them.... wierd.
Also will eat the frozen bloodworms in brick form...and of course....feeder fish.

Its just a matter of training your fish. Im sure it can be trained to eat pellets.

when aros get bigger pellets/sticks are almost useless.
They are good as a suppliment, but unless you want to dump all of your cash on overpriced pellets, go with shrimp, smelt, beefheart, nightcrawlers, AND pellets.

You can inject the above foods with veggies and garlic to make a better food anyway

levi is right

my aro will inhale the pellets and them spit them out.

i soak them in vitachem with purified water, when they get soft i make dough out of it and stuff 2 or 3 shrimp full of dough

it works.......sorta.

I've been using New Life Spectrum with good success.

I agree with the comment above - there's a point at which pellets aren't enough. I'm using the largest available pellet size for my 8" silver and it's getting to a point where he needs quite a few for a decent meal.

amen to that

what size is that? thats not the 7mm extra large fish formula is it? :WHOA: thats a big ass pellet for an 8 inch aro :WHOA:

ive found a 2400(something of that range) gram jar for 50 bucks

its a good price but i dont wanna buy it and find out my fish wont eat it

i need a 125 gram jar of the stuff to try it out :(

My Jardini is 7 inches and for the longest time would not touch pellet. Finally after getting 5 tinfoil barbs that eat everything he has started to. I don't know if it is the fact that he thinks he is missing out on something because the tinfoil barbs love them or what...But it works!

starvation will get the better of any aro. throw pellets til he eats them, its as simple as that. my larger aro would only touch krill, a week later he devours pellets and gets antsy as i lift the lid now. but for some weird reason, i can't get my smaller aro on pellets lol. it was starved for almost 2 weeks b4 i said the hell with it n stuffed it with shrimp. pellets inside shrimp is ideal tho. take the time to do it. works every time. and works great.

My silver doesn't eat shrimps but only feeds on pellets. It eats hikari jumbo gold and carnivore pellets.

Pellets not enough? Feed them the jumbo. That'll do.

It's either "large" or "extra large", if extra-large exists. It was basically the largest pellet I could get my hands on to feed my large malawian haps. If it's not the largest, I'll be sure to get the largest the next time order more 5lb buckets.

I paid $40 for my aro at ~5" or 6", which I thought was a bit pricey, but he was in good condition - active, alert, nice color, ect ... and he was already eating pelleted food at the LFS! The last detail was the clincher for me.
