good price for snake keeping kit?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Things needed for snake purchases:
Heat pad
Aspen bedding at wallmart, news paper (my personal choice), paper towels
Plastic hides something like you grow plants in or old tupperware (cool whip container)
Aquarium w/ screen top and clips
Water dish can also be old tupperware

Remember when you get the snake he will be tiny and outgrow almost evrything. So if you want to upgrade and make it look nice wait till they grow. Snake will not care about looks. The decrative crap they sell at Petsmart is so exspensive and it seems snakes love to crap on that stuff. So more time cleaning. When you can simply throw away any of what I suggested.

lol ok. where do you get the clips? i didnt see em at petsmart or my local lfs either.

I usually get them at petsmart fot like $2.00. I would ask them. Or maybe order from there online store. Books or rocks will work when there young. But when they get older you will be surpried how strong they are.

so i've heard. i'll ask one of the employees tomorrow to get me some, how many would you say i need?

buy everything seperate as stated before.

if they dont have them at pet smart or petco. check home depot they would prob have somehting you can use.

I am not sure, since I haven't been to a reptile expo but have seen a lot of pics of them, but I wouldn't imagine they would carry everything you would need to keep your snake. I think they would just sel the snake.

How are you setting this tank up?
I just ask because the question just makes it sound like you need to do a bit more research before you purchase the snake.

It probably varies show to show, but the ones i've been to have some vendors dedicated to just supplies. Everything from enclosures, decor, heating, etc.....

Dude get a tank with a sliding screen top, they are more secure. Also don't worry about the snake being "too cold" while you take it home, that will not be enough time to have any negative effects. Cornsnakes and Kingsnakes are pretty bad@$$ when it comes to being able to tolerate lower temps, after all most come from places where outdoor winter temps get way colder than what it probably gets in your house. You should get a book on Corns and read it, there is tons of info out there on them.
