i just found out the attachment segment of MFK has been temporaily shut down so they can advance to the next level... eventually MFK will have some total down time to make these adjustments.. so it is not you... or me.... the work is in progress:D

Good Thread. I have most always kept floating plants in my Arowana tanks because think it helps prevent drop eye (from jumping and keeps their eyes up). As of now my Black Arowana is about 18-20 inches and has not got drop eye. I have not got a working digital camera and can not post any pictures sorry. If I free up an evening I can borrow a camera as there are some old pictures I said I was going to post that I have not.

UPDATE: I'm starting to see slight DE in aro's left eye. He's 22" now and has had multiple head hits from jumping. His scraped heal very quickly, but I can only hope the DE does not get any worse.

i think this is the major cause... hitting the top over and over.. i hope your boy only stays mild case... but even if it does get worse he will still be okay... just wish we knew how to really prevent it..

black arows are not as prone to it as silvers... keep the updates coming and sounds like your doing great

This is some great info guys. I just got a new arwona and i'm trying to learning all that I can to keep him healthy.
thanks.. i wish you the best with your new baby..

i just recently purchased an aro as well, hes a jardini and i read that they are less likely to develop DE then silvers does anyone know whether or not this is true? also if head trauma is a possible culprit of the disease does anyone know of any sort of foam or something i could use to put under the hood that way if he does jump the impact wont be as great, so far hes skittish when i come near the tank but i other then quickly swimming away i have yet to see him attempt to jump or thrash around in the tank
