My Marineland 350 is too loud. It's just always constantly buzzing. I have cleaned the impeller multiple times with no improvement. Even if the water level is up there is still a splashing sound. I am now using my xp3 and that is very quiet. I just turn my powerhead off when I go to sleep I don't hear nothing, I finally can get some good sleep. I am thinking of adding another tank to my room (like I need another one!!). What hob or another cannister is really quiet. This will be for a 50 gallon breeder).

Are emporor 400's quiet or do they still make that splashing sound.

My xp3 is extremely quiet, I just don't want to spend that much on another filter. This is getting expensive. This will be my 11th tank in my house.

i just got a 125 with 2 magnum 350's on it and they do seem to be louder. Im the same with you i have all these tanks in my room so its kind of annoying. I was able to make it a little quiter but it still makes noise. My XP3 is dead quiet! And with HOB filters you have to have the water level high enough so you dont hear the water dripin down. If i were you id look for a used xp3-xp4 or a fx5 just a nice used canister filter

One of my AC110 started crapping out and is making a clicking sound that shakes the whole filter. The impeller looks good so it must be something wrong with the motor. It was fairly quiet until this happened.

Fluval 405s are pretty quiet.

Eheim canisters are hands down the most quiet filters on the market...if not for the spray bar, I wouldn't know my 2217 was running...

They are pricey though, but I do feel that the quality is there to justify the cost.

you could buy a 2nd hand eheim 2217.. check that clips/ seals and bucket are not broken. they should run ok for a lot of years.. projects are quiet too and not expensive.. i dont know if you get them in the us though..
aqua ones(Atman) are ok too.. they are silent

How about a simple sponge filter( or 2) for the breeder? IMO best and quietest filter on the market especially for a breeder tank.
