I have always tried to stay loyal to my one lfs even if I pay a couple bucks more for some things. Yesterday I received a text from the owner saying someone brought in a large clown loach and she wanted to give me first dibs, knowing I have a school of them. She saved it for me until today. She sold me a 7" clown loach for $45.

Thanks. We here all the time how lfs give bad info, etc. Thought it would be nice to share a positive experience. Also really shows how oblivious some people are to what fish they are turning in to the lfs. It wouldn't shock me that they gave the loach to the store.

Well, the newest addition has settled in nicely. That brings my collection up to 8 clown loaches. By measuring the new one I was able to get a better idea of the size of the others. 1x8", 3x7", and 4x4-5".

Nice catch! I've been debating on getting a school going. How long does it take for them to get that size? I hear it's painfully slow

Yeah,that's what's kept me from trying them.

They grow stupid slow. I'd say you could probably expect about 1-2" a year up to 8". My 8"er seems like it hasn't grown in length in forever, but has instead packed on the girth. Tried to get a pic of the biggest one, but they're not sitting still right now. They do grow very slow, but I really enjoy the activity they bring to a tank. Once you get a few they become addictive lol.
