Good solo fish for a 75?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I think oscars look weird, but anyways I'm looking at natives for options. Maybe if I could get up north a bit I could catch a pumpkinseed. I'm really just looking for one fish to be kind of a pet fish for my office. I'll figure something out. If all else fails, I could go cichlid and get a jack Dempsey. Thanks for the suggestions guys

Don't you give up on sunnies Aaron! That's what attracted me to your channel on youtube. I've got an idea but I don't know whether you'd like to mess with it since this tank is at work....what about breeding longears or pumpkinseeds?

I'm not looking for a breeding program. That's way too much work. I'm thinking about going with a single green sunfish.

Warmouth, Pumpkinseed, Rockbass (they can change colors), coppernose Bluegill, and Greensunfish are all good choices for a single fish in a 75g. You might also want to put in just one Flat Bullhead or Stonecat for company, and I would make sure I got a male and gave it treats of gammarus (frozen or freeze dried) and frozen or freeze dried blood worms every once In awhile to keep his colors bright during spring.

Green Sunfish. Most personality. I just put a 3" one in a well-planted 90G. (I had one years ago, as well.)
Also consider green or redfin pickerel. They get to 12" But if you want a "pet", go with a Green Sunfish.

Good choice on the green sunfish. I have caught some that are absolute beasts and would great wet pets.
