I use a 6' Bionic blade rod, medium action, with an Energy PTi spinning reel. It works very well for me. But if you would like to troll I would use a heavier action rod.
ya but if hes casting minimum 9' is proper for lakers and salmon, if he floating small rivers or creeks he going to want a 12-17' which will allow him/her do get a drag free drifts. you cant really go for bass and salmon on the same setup, he'll be severly hurting his chances
good all around rod hmm, for trolling and bass, i would go with a 6'6" or a 7', medium action rod. reel would be a pflueger president, model 6735x (lbs./yds) 10/120, gear ratio 5.2:1, for salmon and bass fishing i would go with 15 pound power pro (equal dia. 4 pound test)
Well see, the salmon that I fish for are the 3-6 lb kokanee salmon. I actually was looking at the pfleuger president reel as I see it is more for what I need. My price range is 50-100 bucks for a combo. I actually Already have a nicer bait cast trolling model I just wanted to find a nice all around rod & reel.
