Good starter Fly fishing setup?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
A 2 piece rod is nice.....but a 4 piece is easier to break down and pack. i have a few 4 piece rods and they are great. I have all tfo's. IMO sage fly rods are much nicer. They have so much more feel to them. My buddy has all sage rod's and I fish them every now and then. BUt I hate going back t my tfo fly rods after fishn a sage. Price wise the sky is the limit. SO pick something out you can afford and that you will actually use.

When you start fishing hopefully you have some fishin buddies that have been fly fishin for a bit. If not an intro class thru a local fly shop will help you wonders! Make buddies w/ the guys at the fly shop. Try and go out fishin w/ them. THe skills they can teach you will make the first few months so much easier and less frusturating. I got lucky and have a few buddies that are fishn guides. They taught me all the basics and more really quick. The key is gettn out on the water. I fish a good 3+ days a week so I am able to keep those lessons/skills fresh in my thoughts while going fishing.

I have been fishn since I was little. But throwing flies bloomed my passion for fishing that much more. I am now a junky for fly fishing :)
