whats a good algae eater that wont get eaten by..7 inch cichlids...yes they are very agressive also...i tried siamese algae eaters but they got eaten..and plecos dont even clean if anything they make the water more dirty...any suggestions?
 
These are a little spendy, but a great addition to any home aquaria :)

I was going to say the same way. I agree with you, Bigspizz. No need to rely on fish to clean up the algae for you.
 
Giant pond or apple snails work best for us. They don't overpopulate the tank and do a great job on algae along with just about anything else that the fish ignore.

No sibstitute for maintaince of course but they can certianly help.
 
If you want an algae eating fish in there just get some bristlenose plecos, but I wouldn't leave it just to them to eat all the algae, get something to scrub algae with.
 
One of those nice green looking ones, about 4 inches long. Nice color, and can tolerate a wide range of water parameters. I forget the scientific name, but I got you a pic at the end of this post. It's a longer 6 inch specimen, looks to be hand trained.



































There really is no situation where you should buy a fish for the explicit purpose of tank maintenance when you can roll up your sleeves and take care of it in a few minutes.
