Your calculations are just a little bit off... by around 730 gallons... and 8x8x2 would not be a footprint, either.

Thanks for bringing that to my attention. What I meant was 8x2x2ft. Would that still last my 5 cichla?

Bump for you! I have the same sized tank as well and I'm considering pbass myself.

Definately do try pbass. My favorite aspect of the breed is their great personality. They actually acknowledge you when you get home after being gone a while. I have even trained a few to eat from my hand. Even though they are an aggressive fish, you can put them with just about anything that can keep up with their growth rate. I have mine with 2 EBJDs and 3 dats. I've noticed the aggression is more interspecies than anything. Good luck if you do try!
