Half of whats said is wrong, but ok.

how so? and wrong according to who? nothing wrong with seeking some advice here from people that have been in the same situation. You dont' always need a financial advisor, lawyer, consultant, etc etc. Doing a little upfront homework is good, rather than running straight somebody who only cares about how much money you're gonna pay them for their services.

My question is, why are you so preoccuppied with your parents finances? Im sure they know what they are doing, and if you wanted to get them advice im sure there are better places than MFK to solicit it.

Well you see I am the type of people who care about my parents finances. I dont want them to go through BS if things dont work out. Also they are not afraid of telling me about their financial situation. Sometimes I ask them how are they doing financially and they tell me everything I need to know. I made this thread to ask people to see if its the right time to buy a house.

My question is....why does it seem to be such a negative thing? There are people from all walks of life here. No need to join a new forum for every topic. For example, there's tons of people here with a lot of knowledge on sports, photography, cars, guns, IT stuff, etc etc. I'll give it a try here, and if I don't get what I'm looking for, I'll look elsewhere. Chances are you may even find some people from MFK on those other sites that specialize in one area :)

Another good example, look at our reptile subforum. It's very active with a lot of knowledgeable members. Who would have thought you'd have that on a fish site?!?!

Not sure bout sticking the property tax to the mortgage comment

Can u elaborate? Unless anyone got a huge savings acct why would u not wanna stick your property tax to the mortgage? Sure, if u choose not to your mortgage is lower but come time to pay property tax I guarantee u gonna wish u stuck it to the mortgage. U either pay a little bit a month or pay a FAT chunk twice a year around Christmas and summer. I don't know bout y'all but I like some spending money for some fun in the sun and nice gifts under the xmas tree. I recommend it to all home buyers.
