Good way to Euthanize

This is not right at all...I collect fish for work, (both live and for the largest collection of preserved native fishes in the state, and apparently the country and world.)

We use the alcohol method to kill the fish that we collect, and they do not die instantly. This is not as human as slowly putting the fish to sleep by slowing it down with cool temperatures. Not only that, but you have to sit there and watch your fish freak out as it is doing whatever it is doing in alcohol.

+1...and rubbing alcohol would do a better job.
 
Clove oil works best for me,after they are out i put em in the freezer
 
When I have to do surgery on my fish (koi 100% of the time), I use clove oil to knock them out, and then place in fresh to wake up.

To put them down (which I have had to do) you put them in a container with water, and I do about 6 drops per gallon. Put something dark over the top, and come back in an hour.

I would suggest using a container that you can them throw out, as the clove oil is hard to get out, and the smell is extremely strong.
