Yes, last night, at 12:35 am, I had this need to double check that my garage door was locked as my neighbors all know I have some crazy fish in there. So, I go down, lock up, go to turn the lights off in my living room, and find water on the tarp (we're moving and have a nasty old tank as a temporary tank up and fortunately took some precautions). So I yell "We have some water on the floor!" No response... "Eric! We have a LOT of water on the floor!" He comes running down the stairs. Then about 5 seconds of cursing occurs as we discover the leak in the tearing silicone.
This is where our fishies' guardian angel steps in. I had towels freshly washed, sitting on the couch about 4 feet away. Next, grab ratchet strap to hold tank together. Then, grab any container you can find, followed by draining 120 gallons of water and removing about 15 5"-7" discus, 4 good sized gold nugget plecos, 2 6"+ green phantoms, 3 pain in the @$$, jumping in my face, 4.5+ inch flagtails, and one angry 14 inch Goldie pleco.
Somewhere between 12:35 and 5:45 am, we set up and water tested our extra 100 gallon tank, engineered our new filtration system connecting our 180 and 100, moved out all the fish, mixed new R/O water, and set up insulation for the tank.
I can't believe everyone made it, the tank didn't totally bust, and there was only a total of 5 drips of water on the carpet from the fish flopping around in the net. Why I felt the absolute need to get up and double check the door, I don't know, but thank God I did.
Total disaster averted, and first sunrise seen in a long while. I feel soooo lucky!
