Goodnight. Sleep tight. Don't let that leaking tank totally bite!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Had that happen with a 40 gallon I had on our living room mantel. About 5 min after we woke up I heard a pop sound. Did not quite know what it was until I heard the filter water getting louder and louder. Come to find out that the seal just blew outward about the size of a large pin. What a mess. It's amazing the tank waited until we were all awake and in the living room for it to happen. maybe there really are the "FISH GODS" huh? I am glad it turned out ok for you too.

You make me realize I am completely unprepared for a disaster like that. Glad to hear everything worked out OK for ya. On a side note, how do you catch Frank and move him? He has quite a bit of odontal growth to get caught in a net does'nt he? My L-114 was 11" when I got him and the only way I think I'll be able to get him back out is to catch him by hand and he's one spiney SOB! luckily he has'nt had to be moved yet.

:iagree:I probably would die in a situation like this...:nilly:Not prepared in least bit. I would be probably having the water drain into a Rubbermaid tank. And put my fish in the tank. My banded leporinus would probably fly out of the tank. Hes the hardest to catch. I just see it as a huge disaster.....:nilly:

Its not the discus in the house that are a problem with the cats, but the monsters in the garage that worry me.

As for Frankie, he definitely has odontals, and is spiny all over. However, I get him out by hand. I move slowly with him, and he allows me to grab him over his top fin and grab him behind his pectoral fins. If I do this and slowly slide my other hand under his belly towards his front end, he'll let me pick him up and set him in his tub. I also have used a plastic strainer with larger smooth holes, but the hand method works the best for me and Frankie.

Also, we have what I have no other term for than an R/O water tower in the garage that holds 220 gallons + of R/O water. Without it, we would have been in a lot of trouble.

I have duct tape on the edges of my aquarium, just in case.
I also have a bukkit in my fish room

ughh lucky you!
