So Chicxulub. You don't think that he will get that big? what do you think stunted him? I have had him just short of a week now and i haven't been able to get him to eat. Any tips on this would be great.

How long was he at the shop and what were they feeding it? Too small of a tank with inadequate water conditions can cause stunting a fish. It may take time to get it to start eating but they go crazy for live feeders.

^This. I don't think its anything that you did. A fish that young, even if somewhat stunted, can likely bounce back with little or no long term adverse affects.

They seem to normally start feeding after a week or two. I've had good luck with frozen blood worms to get them starting to eat. It is also normal for a growing goonch to just randomly stop eating for a week or two for no apparent reason. It will then start eating again like nothing happened.

it was def at the shop for a while. they had it in a 20 long if i remember correctly. But like i said this little guy is only around 4 inches in length. They were feeding him live black worms. maybe i will try that this weekend.

Question about the flow in the tank. The powerhead i have on the left side creates some flow. Not what i would call a current. You cant even feel about 6 inches away. What size power head do you think i should have? I don't want to create to much current. The tank size is 60 gallons.

Do keep in mind that these fish inhabit clear, shallow rivers with very powerful current. An ideal level of flow for this fish will be when the current is strong enough to cross the entire bottom of the tank, hut the far side, rise and create significant agitation on the surface. This will make the fish comfortable. You'll find it more active and that it can stick itself to its chosen spot surprisingly well.

ok. so i need two 1000gph. wow. that's crazy. That is what i will do. now here is another question for yah. Do i set it up with the power head attachment? From what i understand that is a more direct flow. Or the water circulation mode with just the impeller? Hopefully that will help it acclimate to his new home. Thank you for all your help. This is the first time raising one of these, and i want to make sure his home is what it should be.
