What’s the growth rate like on a rutilus?
Rutilus is fairly slow, >.5cm per month if you're lucky, if that's a cf. "dwarf", it's basically done, if it's cf. "Indochina" 1-2 cm per month.

Thank you, will post better pics when I get a chance, his very tiny at the moment...About 1,5” and eats cut up pieces of shrimpRutilus is fairly slow, >.5cm per month if you're lucky, if that's a cf. "dwarf", it's basically done, if it's cf. "Indochina" 1-2 cm per month.
Hey guys, I currently have him in a 3 foot grow out tank...I just wana get him eating 100% and beef him up a little before I add him to my bigger tanks...
Would he be fine if I leave the tank bare bottom?
I was thinking of adding about 100 guppies for him to enjoy? He is eating cut up shrimp now
I have not seen him eat as he will only eat when the lights go out...I put the shrimp infront of him and he does nothing but once the lights go out there is no more shrimp left
Yup there is a belly bump...I’ll try and take clear pics of him...Does he get a belly bump so we can be sure he's eating?
If so, I say keep doing what you're doing. There's no need to switch him over to live if he's taking prepared foods. That will only create new problems for later.

Can I keep him in a bare bottom tank?
Okay thank you very muchThey typically enjoy a flat, smooth rock in front of the current on which they can perch, and having a log or something to hide in/under will be used; but they don't actually require any substrate.
