Over there
No idea where I should post this but with my reptile collection increasing, I've been debating selling off what I have with my goonches and making it a cold water tank which my bichirs would not appreciate 1 bit. These guys are 18"+ so I need ideas on what other cold water fish I can throw in with these guys to add a bit of movement besides mahseers. Thanks guys

I'd do maybe some US natives not sure where u live if they're legal but large mouth bass, esox species like northern pike and musky, bowfin or rainbow or brown trout... Maybe do some siniperca chuatsi perch. A few large goonches and a northern pike or a large rainbow trout would be pretty dope. I've had a 16-17" rainbow trout he was dope he ate pellets like a dorado but had none of the aggression dorados have haha although he could stand up for himself

Hmmm never thought about natives. I'll have to look into those cuz a freakin musky would be TIIIIIIIGHT! Ik that bowfins are illegal here though. I'm in Cali

Teeth on teeth :) i like it... how bout a chain pickerel as substitute for muskie?

Haha forgot that's what google's for. They look like they'd fit right in with my goonches. How do they do in groups though? I'd love to have 2 or 3

lol i was gettin pics for u... not many people keep them but i recall seeing a tank of 2-3 18" range chains together. i had some of the even smaller specie the redfin pickerl as juvies 2-6"... they cannibolized at that size tho as one grew larger and ate his friends lol. but id think u could get away with a group of 3 chains if they were large enough. 6-12" range. ud prob want some larger ones 2 start off anyway with those kitty killers lurkin on the bottom :) . u may be able 2 find a hathery that will ship. jonah's aquarium and sach's aquaculture have them from time to time. they put some up on aquabid also. id troll our natives section for more info im no esox expert. just enjoy catching them. ive yet 2 aquire a small enough pike for "aquaculture" lol..

I'll definitely check those guys out man! I'll also hit up Ray and Wes and see if they can get any in and maybe they can suggest other badass fish as well haha. Thanks for the refferences and idea!

Haha ask Wes to bring in an Amur pike if u really want that rarity factor. Now that i think about it I think u need a license or something in Cali to keep esox. If u do go esox chains are sweet but since u got monster cats why not just go full on monster?? Tiger musky are pretty hot also. Had a buddy that had a 2 foot musky or tiger musky I forget but he said it was the most "food" aggressive fish he ever kept.

This summer I plan on doing something with grass pickerel, hujeta gars, aces, and Odoes;)

Ya I still gotta research to see what I can legally keep cuz Ik there's a lot of natives I can't. The only problem Id have if any of them are legal is actually finding some good sized ones that won't become snacks cuz they already killed an 8-9" blue mahseer.
