Goonch

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
they get about 6ft.+ really nobody knows how big they truly get

and NO WINTERS BRING HIM INSIDE FOR THE WINTER, its to big of a risk they MIGHT be able to take it but nobody is certain PLEASE DON'T RISK THAT especially and a rarity like a goonch they are NOT a dime a dozen

To even perhaps give us a better idea, i wonder what some of the temperatures are like in the rivers they inhabit and how they would compare to water temperatures in Canada?

I was also thinking about getting one, I have a 12x7x3ft deep pond and am in central indiana, it has a lot of current going through it. Could one possibly live in it?

I don't have any numbers concerning the exact temperatures of the rivers these fish are found in but i am from New Brunswick (close to nova scotia) and i am pretty sure that even at there lowest they wouldn't compare to the Maritimes in winter. Even assuming you had a very well oxygenated pond, with current going through it i think temperature is the crucial factor and i just think it would be too low come winter. i am sure others would agree. i will say though, i know little about what the exact lower end of the temperature tolerance of these fish is like but given the geographic areas i would suspect it doesn't really compare.

The temp of river where the goonch live in our country is about 25 celcius, surely need heater during the winter in canada
