i always try to buy local for this same reason. You might pay little more but you know exactly what you are buying. Try Petsmart as they always have them in stock here in Texas.
 
I checked Petsmart the other day (got a red belly pacu), and they didn't have any then, maybe I will check back when I get some more money.
 
sorry for your loss...... some of them looked like they lost their skin and started to decompse. The last 2 looked like they died within 2 hrs before you got them. I feel for your loss.
