freshwater is best if you are starting fish keeping because freshwater fish are redily avalable (some pet shop dont even sell s.w.f.)
when i started i went to visit my uncle and sucked as much info out of him as i can then i went to my cousins and learnt even more. then i bought a fish book then i was given a whole heap.
So i would say buy a heap of books on freshwater fish
