my lack of experience if that is a stressed johanni that thing is bad off! mines lost alot of its black when i set up my 85 gallon and the blues did stay. its the black that went away and turned a shade of grey if you bought those 5 fish from the seller are u shure its not the johanni?
 
Not a johanni, could be an aurora, but you'd need to let it settle in a bit and feed him up. If it's a female it will never get the color that you are expecting. Most Malawi cichlids only have colored males.
 
Completely off topic but we have the exact same background and granite in our tank , just a different setup and layout. E-bay?
