Got a NEW female for the Xanthic

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Not really.
Breed them, then breed the daughters back to the father (Or to one of the sons) and you'll get a percentage of Xanthic babies. That's really the only way to get them. (Unless if, by a million to one chance, that the female is distantly related to the male.)

thats the only way to bring up the gene, the same thing happens with EBJD's.

So your dad has NO female babies?

Find some of the other babies - females - and breed them to dad - that's the way to go.

im planning on doing that anyway, how big does a female have to be to be mature enough to breed?

I have had them breed at 3 inches. So, 3 inches and up.

yeh but the male is like 13" so wont he be a bit aggressive cause he thrashes them until they breed surely at 3" she get chomped??

You never know with jags - I've actually had MORE aggression where the two were closer to size - If the female is "ripe" (FAT) put her in, and chances are they will start clearing a rock shortly - never hurts to try - just keep a close eye on them. Provide lots of spaces for the female to hide that the male can't go.

looking good, she is more gold/yellow than any Jag Iv seen in the U.K.

lets see if she lays and what they turn-out looking like.

glad you got her home safe.

the first female is normal and the second looks like a normal female with nice color but breed it and see the fry will be normal unless it is a gold female in which all should be gold but if the fry are normal then you'll have to breed a few pairs of them to find a pair in which both parents have the gold gene but when you do get some gold fry they and the parrents will be worth alot of $$$$
sounds like a fun project to

good luck
