The new one is sticking REALLY close to the older male I have. The sex of the new one is still unknown, but I'm hoping for a female.

No, the best ratio is 2:1 fem:male. This one should be ready to go in a year-year and a half. The person I bought from actually offered 4 for the price of 1 if mine were a female. Too bad, too bad.
Nope, I have never had a problem with a jager getting hot enough to be a problem. My L200s will sit on the heater at its coil, with no problems.davo;575227;575227 said:
ill check those heaters out then. what you mean offered 4 for price of one if was a female? a lot of people find there "yield" is a lot better if there is a non dominant male present too with hypancistrus, and have heard that especially with the zebras. youngest ive ever heard a F1 being bred is in about 30 months, usually longer though, there a number of factors obviously, but i dont think you will be getting a regular breeding pattern for a while. 2 years is considered pretty young.
It depends, I have heard numerous things from different people. There are also those that do the 1:1, and get very regular batches and in large numbers. 2 1/2 years is approx. how long it take to get one full size. They can breed much sooner then that I have been told. At around 2 1/2" is about breeding size which takes less time as far as I have been told.
i dont know of that many people that have bred there own young due to them being dispersed amoung the large amount of people that have joined the breeding zebra pleco bandwagon since they got so desirable, easy to breed, and have kept there price tag for so long. a lot of these sell all the offspring straight away, and dont bother with their own batch, then there is the inbreeding thing. however the few i know who have bred their own CB's the earliest has been 30 months, and an average of 35ish. also 6 months is young to sell the fry, and probably the minimum age you should, a lot of people wait till at least 8 months before selling them on.
