I once again make the notion that we need a good sand sticky.

:feedback: ===> on the issue of a good sand sticky.

Seconded, I motion and petition for a vote from the Administrator's, if this is allowed to be done.

Ok, sounds good. Lol once again there is no fish in the water yet so my fish are safe thanks for the info guys

OK i got up today and started on my tank...the water was muddy brown color, i wasnt happy. i emptied the tank...took all of the play sand out and rinsed the tank out. i got POOL FILTER sand for 10 bucks for a 50lb bag, rinsed it and put it in. nice clear water now..got my temperature going, and put prime in and its ready to go! DO NOT USE PLAY SAND!!! dont make the mistake i did

Bums me out when people say things like that without taking the necessary steps to clean it. All you had to do was maybe three water changes and you'd have some great looking sand. ON THE PLUS SIDE: you now have some even better sand! haha. I think you'll enjoy it more anyway.

yes i used pool filter sand that stuff rocks. play sand is toooo dirty. i did clean it and clean it and clean it and no luck. it just kept the tank water brown and nasty no matter how much i washed it. pool filter sand was much better...still had to wash it but it acctually came clean and the water looks great now. the size of the grains of pool filter sand it much larger than play sand...IMO it looks better, cleans easier, and also stays out of your HOB filters better.

I used the play sand from Home Depot & my water didn't cloud up any. I washed it pretty good in a 5 gallon bucket, & added the sand after the water was in the tank.
Glad you worked it out though.

I removed all substrate from my tank. I dont see the purpose of it. My gourami eats plants so i cant have plants. Its much MUCH cleaner without sand or gravel

I'm keeping south American cichlids tho and they are avid diggers. I'm sure they would be ok but it would be like me living on dirt, I would rather live on some nice grass:)
