same.. rarely do i sell stuff straight from my home... but $300 for all isn't too bad...

I think the canister filter can be salvaged.. theres always replacement parts online or in some old Fish store that are sucessful enough that over the years.. they have filter/canister parts left over...

I would say that first thing is to test out the motor.. see if it works.. and fill it up with water.. without the media... etc...

PS: is the whole canister together? or its missing some stuff? Hose or what not can be replace.. but if parts of the filter is missing or broken.. thats tricky..

You will need more than a single Xp3 to filter a 150 regardless. So the HOBs your using, might as well keep them on there.

$300 is not bad for a decent glass 150 + stand + cover though. The xp3 he gave you, missing parts or not, was prob a throw in.

The xp3 is a pretty simple unit - the canister is literally just 2 pieces, with 3 trays inside.

All your missing is prob some hose and plastic intake/outtake that goes in the tank. You can make those yourself or buy something from a LFS. They do not have to be xp3 brand. The tubing is standard. If the trays are missing I am not sure what you do there. But I am sure you could rig something up.

Everything for the base I have: the filter, all the baskets, everything is there and works. I plugged it in and it ran. I have one intake nozzle and the strainer, but nothing else. I am trying to see if there is a way to use the tubing, (buying that tonight) along with the filter, of course.

I am glad it works! Tubing and some sort of outtake rigging and you should be good to go!

For filter media, I woud get sponge pads (mech) for the bottom tray and bio media for the middle tray and top tray. Don't mess with those carbon bags, you won't need those.

Yeah, 150 is a lot of water. Depending on the stock you will need more than the XP3. But I am guessing the XP3 + your existing HOBs and that might be enough, depending on your stock list. Now if you wanted to run 2 XP3's that would be a good setup, maybe (depending on your stock).

For example, I run a XP3 + Magnum 350 on my 75 gallon cichlid tank. Water never gets cloudy.
