Got a plan but before I finish set up......

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
They are an anabantiforme. Cousin to bettas, gouramis, bush fish, and snakeheads. I think 8 inches is possible. Like other anabantiformes (with the exception of snakeheads) they aren’t as aggressive as they look. Mostly just a predator of smaller fish. A solo one shouldn’t cause any more problems than the leaf fish or bichir.

Still ok with everything else? Although they are proving to be extraordinarily hard to find even online.
Should be good. I’ve seen them on bluegrass aquatics, other than that exoticfishshop and aqua imports are usually a good bet.

So question.... may seem basic but they will be new to me. I was hoping to get them very small as to not cause chaos due to everything but the bichir and maybe the Featherfin will be small. Less than 3”

That should help, a lot of time you won’t have a choice to buy small. Just make sure nobody is small enough to get eaten. Loaches grow slow and bichirs grow like weeds. Not sure about the rest.
