i was looking at getting one, and then all of a sudden, about 60 people started asking questions about them, and buying them. so no, i'm not just following the trend lol. it is about 2 inches SCL, and i just saw it try to take a bite out of one of the white skirt tetras that are in with it. its in a 35 gallon tank until it grows a little, and then it will go into a pond at my moms house with some other turtles that i plan on growing out.

i'm feeding him Nutrafin Basix Floating Turtle Gammarus Pellets, and that's what they were feeding him at the store.

i'll try to post some pics soon, but i hate doing it because of how slow my desk top computer is

Dont give him gammarus. Try insted reptomin, zoomed and mazuri:D

Gammarus has been proved to contain patogenic organisms responsable for skin and shell diseases on turts. Also one of the main causes of eye and ear problems on turts

Can the turtle get out of the water? Lighting? Since its in with fish there is the possibility for it to consume the fish its in with...as well as eating fish food so is the gammarus the biggest problem here?

wow. why is it still sold then?
Because it still makes money.
Alot of stuff is bad for animals, yet it still gets sold because people that dont know buy, think its good; and tell other people to buy it.

I was wondering the same thing. Lighting is a big deal w/turts and they need a place to bask so they can get all their solar vitimins. What is the set up??

Hetep

i found all pellets mess up the tank fast (spit out more then they eat) so i only feed pellets once a week
dried shrimp, krill, and plants are there staples for a res i would add fish to this list

he has a UVB lamp and a heat lamp over a log that is out of the water. he is in with some tetras, that i couldn't care less about, a platy, and a red tail shark, that will be gone as soon as i can catch him, but hasn't been problamatic yet. there are some live plants in there too, for him to munch on when he wants to.

i've done my research guys, calm down:D
