i have noticed that he dosn't bask much. i haven't seen him do it even once. i know that all turtles are different in their basking preferences, so i'm not worried, but if it continues, should i be worried?

thers nothing to worry about that. If a turt stays to longer out of the water or even avoids water now that´s something to worry about. Anything from pneumonia to skin and shell problems ,one of the nonspecific simptoms is the turt staing in land for to long
