Got a Red Texas ????

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yes, it depends on the specific breeding regime firstly, breeding a F1 female to the Parent male helps. Secondly, it also depends on luck, even for crosses involving the same species of cichlids - for some the chromosomes just happens to align better than others. Thirdly, it also depends on what exactly is involved in the cross - Green Texas or Texas or a hybrid of the two, + Midas, Red Devil, Midevil, Flowerhorn, Blood Parrot or whatever. Even if Texans and Green Texans are related, they are still different species and have a different genome, so would obviously work differently when it comes to a hybrid offspring. Same with Midas, Red Devils and Midevils, for example.

So really, it's hard to determine the chance for a SRT, or any other hybrid really, to be fertile, unless THAT specific cross was documented very carefully.

Have any breed 1 breed a purple
rose queen that has faded already...I looked and couldn't find any hybrids all over the net....

Don't think so. I was gonna suggest breeding. Green Texas with a RQ actually, but there is quite a lot of variation in terms of RQ colors so would have to choose a pretty nice looking red one.

Breeding a yellow or purple might result in nice looking offsprings, but may not be sought after simply because it won't be a 'Red Texas'.

I was thinkin the same but a lil different I have a rt project going on now but I was gonna take a male that fades and fertile and breed wit the rose queen but I have second thoughts....It may be a waist of time....

Aye lol. Tho to be honest I'm not really interested in FHs, Red Texas nor Blood Parrots. Well FHs I'm interested in some, but not most actually. XD I can and actually did pass by a FH with a nice kok and what was described as being 'high quality' and go 'meh' then saw a Convict and snapped it up instantly. XD So yeah tastes vary greatly, and in the end who knows. It also applies with purebreds actually, for example I saw a pic of an Amphilophus alfari and I can't get it out of my head, but apparently it's not popular, at all. :/
