Yeah, Mala's are usualy not aggressive towards other fish. but they have the size to protect themselves. A little red wolf would be done for next to a CK or a pissed out Pike.
I dropped my Mala in my large S/A-C/A Cichlid tank last X-mas just to see what would happen. The Mala was 10-12" @ the time, end result - Breeding pair of Red Terrors 14" and 12" and an 8" Female Jag - ALL on the surface stressed to no end within an hour, if they flinched the Wolf was on them like flys on crap.
I'm not sure I've ever heard any Mala owner say they are "usually not aggressive towards fish." It is usually said Mala's are to be kept solitary because of over-aggression towards fish. A year later mines the size of a human forearm and has no issues attacking the siphon every week.
