Rare Cichlids - Glad to hear you are ok. You really should report it. It is important to have a safe working environment no matter what, You can report a violation anonymously or you can give your name. I am a Medical Assistant and it will screw up your heart's electrical pulses if it hits you right.

got to put in my two cents here......

knowing that nothing was changed sounds like a working hazard waiting to rehappen.....and...
you really should have been checked out, 1. because you could have injured yourself, namely your back or lower back, and it would have been documented as a work related accident....and many times those type of injuries arnt felt right away, especially because of being shocked, numb ect.....
i would cover that butt, and maybe ask for any one who saw it if they would just write a note that you might have....

yea yea yea.....maybe nothing will come of it.....but then...what if???

Glad your'e okay!

I know this is not the same but I peed on a electric fence for 30 dollars from my dad and I fell to the ground and I was numb, and had really bad cramps in my... genitals. It must have been like 120 volts.

Yeah, I know this is an old thread, but meh.

I've been hit by 220-240V twice when I was younger and it never threw me back nor did it last more than four seconds, are you sure it's not 110V? I've heard 110V is actually more dangerous since it "holds" onto you longer.

A shock is a shock and all higher voltages have the potential to be fatal....We're all glad to hear you're OK, R_C!!

Now did you nail your boss to the wall with safety regulations? since that would be the best thing you can do!!

I am an electrical engineer by trade. Has anyone seen a stun gun? They go up to 500,000 volts and will not kill someone (if the person is healthy and the gun is used properly).

Please do not perform this example! Electricians grab "hot" wires all day. That is, they hold onto the raw wire with 120v going through them. They don't get shocked becuase they are not grounded. If they grabbed a "hot" wire and were standing in water in a cement basement, they would give the electrcity a "shortcut" to ground. This is a death type situation. Ob serve the chart from http://www.cdc.gov/niosh/elecovrv.html

Table 1. Estimated Effects of 60 Hz AC Currents
1 mA Barely perceptible
16 mA Maximum current an average man can grasp and "let go"
20 mA Paralysis of respiratory muscles
100 mA Ventricular fibrillation threshold
2 Amps Cardiac standstill and internal organ damage

when you get shocked by electricity your white blood cells die. you should be drinking tomato juce and orange juce...

Im into electronics, and fixing washing machines, stoves, TV's working with electronics of all types.

I get shocked alot. bucause im not cairfull. sometimes its 120V sometimes its 240V... and other times its 20000V at a verry low amprige, like a tazer gun....

and i have to say i like 120AC the best, its mellow. but its never fun. i worked at a caontainer yard and died from a shock. but a fellow worker revived me. good thing they force almost everyone to know CPR... not fun at all... and like you i had cramps in my leg for a week... but this was 650V 3 phase at 3A...

the good thing is that i got shocked in the legs, and had a scar on bolth legs. went right through my shoes., the scars where about 10" long and i can still kinda see one. sharyest thing ive been through.
