The Cave
Drove 3 hours to Charlotte, nc to pick up the 100 gallon I bought out the of the classifieds, and it was onl a 75! My friend picked it up for me, and had it sitting in the driveway. I knew when I saw it it wasn't a 100, so I was pissed! I called the guy and he swore up and down it was a 100, even though I had just measured it to make sure I was right. It's better than nothing, but still sucks! Maybe I can get to the glass company soon to build my new 110.

Put this in the lessons learned:
ask for dimensions on a new tank.
That really sucks bro. Better than nothing though I suppose.

yeah,

I'll live with it. Kinda interesting tank, though. The returns are on the bottom for some kind of undergravel set-up, but I just see that as a disaster waiting to happen, so I'm just going to cap them off and use a spraybar. Using my old pump, the stock overflow, and another homemade one, I'll be moving about 900 GPH through it. Happy fish :o)

Only $75, so I really can't complain too much. There's a publication here called the IWANNA where people put on their tanks (and anything else you can imagine) for super cheap. Go to www.iwanna.com and go to each of the sections. Type in aquarium, then try fish tank. You'll get all kinds of stuff. I just missed it last week when someone GAVE AWAY a 150

There was some lady in the paper that said it was a 125 for $150...Well I called and she said it was a 150 so I was excited and had the money in hand and ready to go. I asked for the dimensions and it was a 75! She told me she knew it was a 150 cuz she paid $150 dollars for it new....:screwy: Lesson learned! Hope you still get your tank...

Yeah, I got the tank home, and made some changes. There were 2 returns on the bottom of the tank with no valve to stop the water in case the power went out, so, I used a couple of old glass pieces and siliconed them over the holes (only 1" holes). I'll let that cure over the next couple of days. I just hope that the stock overflow and a home made overflow can handle 900-1000 GPH. I'll get some media out of the parents' tank, transport it here, and cycle this thing until I can get the 110 built. I learned a good lesson, but still ended up with a pretty decent tank:thumbsup:
